Jessie M. Hardy

Jessie M. Hardy, age 75 years, of Phillipsburg, NJ, formerly of Quakertown, NJ, and Plainfield, NJ, died on Sunday, October 20, 2013, at her home.

Born in Georgia, August 10, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Mann Jones and Lottie Brown.

She was a former midwife and teacher, and was an avid candy maker and crafter.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Sidney Hardy, Sr., and by a daughter, Lydia. Surviving are her children: Sidney Hardy, Jr. of Phillipsburg, NJ, Edward Hardy of Newark, NJ, Kevin Hardy of Phillipsburg, NJ, Linda Gallman of Phillipsburg, NJ, Keith Hardy of Phillipsburg, NJ, and Lakisha Hardy of Phillipsburg, NJ; three sisters: Ruby Simmons, Florence Allen, and Doris Austin; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11 AM in the New Hope Memorial Baptist Church, 91 Division Street, Elizabeth, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Linden, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 10-11 AM in the church.
