Joan F. Crum

Joan F. Crum, age 91 years, of Hillsborough Township, NJ, died Friday, August 27, 2021, at her home. Born in Hillsborough, NJ, September 2, 1929, daughter of the late Jason S. and Abbie Boehm Crum, she had resided in Hillsborough Township her entire life. Joan was a registered nurse and became one of the first nurse practitioners in the state of New Jersey. She worked for the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ, the Visiting Nurses and was the nursing coordinator for the Bridgewater-Raritan School District. An avid animal and dog lover, Joan would frequent many nursing homes with her therapy dogs to spend time with patients and staff. In addition to her many beloved dogs she also raised ponies and goats on her property. Joan was a lifelong member of the Neshanic Reformed Church. She is pre-deceased by her siblings Margaret Cole in 2002, Mary Bittle in 2008, and Donald Crum in 1981, and one nephew John Bittle, Jr. in 2009. Surviving are two nephews, Thomas Bittle of Neshanic Station, NJ, and Mark Crum of North Carolina; three nieces, Ruth Lincoln of Virginia, Deborah Quinn of Pennsylvania, and Amy Smith of Texas. Also surviving are several great nieces and nephews, and her beloved friends, Oksana and Robert Mastropietro, and their son Kevin, Virginia Krauss, and Nancy Carroll. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 11:00 AM in the Neshanic Reformed Church, 715 Amwell Road, Hillsborough Township, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in the family plot at Neshanic Cemetery, Hillsborough Township, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021, from 10:00-11:00 AM in the Church.
