Joan Goldman

Joan Goldman, age 81 years, of Boca Raton, FL, died on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at her home.

Born in New York City, NY, February 27, 1929, daughter of the late Dwight and Frances Davidson Coburn, she was formerly a longtime resident of the Flemington, NJ area.

A Girl Scout leader, Mrs. Goldman was also a member of the Hunterdon County Chapter of the American Red Cross as well as of the Flemington Jewish Community Center.

Forty-one years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Goldman started the Kildonan School in Amenia, NY to help children with dyslexia, including their son, Stephan, who died in 1982.

A brother, Douglas Coburn, also died earlier.

Surviving are her husband of sixty years, Kurt Goldman; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Joseph DiBianca of Flemington, NJ; a granddaughter and her husband, Michelle and Vincent D'Amico of Marlton, NJ; a grandson and his wife, Michael and Margaret DiBianca of Wilmington, DE; two great grandchildren, Ella and Vincent D'Amico; and a cousin and his wife, Bruce and Laurie Davidson of Marinette, WI.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Flemington Jewish Community Center, 5 Sergeantsville Road, Raritan Tonwhsip, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. It was Mrs. Goldman's wish that the Kildonan School, which has helped more than 2,000 children, be a memorial to Stephan's short life.
