Joanne S. Pickell

Joanne S. Pickell age 92 years, passed away peacefully on Friday September 20, 2024 at NHC Healthcare, Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. 

Born in Passaic NJ, August 10, 1932, Joanne was the daughter of the late Frank and Marion (Leeds) Snyder. She formerly resided for more than 25 years in Annandale NJ and then in Bloomsbury NJ for five years, moving to Murrells Inlet in 2021.

She was a devoted mother, a doting grandmother and loving great grandmother. Joanne’s greatest joy in life was her family, having raised seven children and worked tirelessly to provide for her family. 

She retired from Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington NJ after over 25 years of service as a Dietician. 

She was predeceased by her husband, Albert J. Pickell in 2011, and by her son, Richard Vogt, Jr. in 1987 and her step-daughter, Sharon Eisele in 2017.  She is survived by two sons, James Vogt and wife, Karen of Bridgewater NJ and Thomas Vogt of Murrells Inlet SC, four daughters, Terri Sautner of Roswell GA, Lois Singleton of Washington NJ, Deborah Vogt of Stewartsville NJ, and Diane Gootee and her husband, David of Murrells Inlet SC, her step-daughter, Deb Pickell of Cherryville PA, as well as sixteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. 

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 11:00 am at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ 08822. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Flemington. Calling hour will be Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. 

Joanne suffered from Alzheimer’s disease being diagnosed in 2017, and the family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions would be greatly appreciated to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Floor 17 Chicago, IL 60601.
