Joel Mazzucco died peacefully Friday, September 4, 2020 at his home in Ringoes NJ, surrounded by his loving family. He was 62.
Joel was born August 30, 1958 in Somerville NJ, the son of the late Joseph and Elsa (Weiss) Mazzucco. He graduated from Bridgewater East High School and attended Raritan Valley Community College and Lincoln Tech in South Plainfield.
Joel was a Master Mechanic, beginning his career at Skip’s Automotive in Bound Brook. He worked for Foley, Inc. of Piscataway as a heavy equipment mechanic before transitioning into sales. He then went to Modern Handling in Hasbrouck Heights, where he was the executive in charge of its sales department.
In 2005 he returned to Foley, where he was the executive in charge of its parts department.
Joel had a gregarious passion for life. Fun and laughter were the essential ingredients he brought to everything he did. As a result, he could turn even simple things into an amusing adventure.
He was an avid boater and fisherman. Although his family was always the most important thing in his life, fishing was not far behind. Many fish at Spruce Run Reservoir owe their lives to Joel, who routinely released the fish he caught so that they would live another day.
Joel is survived by his wife, Adele. The two were together for 38 years and she was the love of his life.
He is also survived by a son, Justin Mazzucco and daughter, Kimberly Mazzucco, both at home; a brother, Joseph “Skip” Mazzucco and his wife Nancy, of Coloma, MI; and a sister, JoAnn Leeds and her husband Curtis, of Ringoes.
