Johanna Annette Hamill

April 13, 1936 — February 18, 2017

Johanna Annette Hamill, age 80 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died Saturday, February 18, 2017, at her home. Johanna was born in Brooklyn, NY, April 13, 1936, to Joseph and Mary Merone. Her mother’s family was very close and regularly visited each other in Connecticut, Long Island, Queens, and the Hudson Valley. Their family name was Bavero. Over her lifetime, Johanna had many interests including camping, taking extensive nature walks, and exploring the Hudson Valley region and Catskill Mountains. Birding was a lifelong passion and she often led walks for the Audubon society in Bergen County, New Jersey where she lived for many years. She often spoke fondly of her early years employed in the advertising department at CBS in New York City. Her phenomenal cooking skills were well known and respected and she had a voracious reading habit that kept her house stocked with many books, newspapers, and magazines. She had a special way with horses and could quiet and calm even the most difficult of animals. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Vincent Hamill in 2005 and one sister Annette Liguori. She is survived by daughter Deidre Hamill of New York City, NY; daughter Patricia Hamill, son in law John Fulwood, and grandchild Aidan Hamill-Fulwood of Frenchtown, NJ; and her sister Diana Zimmerman of Phoenix, AZ. A memorial service and burial in Rosemont Cemetery, Rosemont, NJ will be held at a later date and time to be announced under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Memorial contributions in Johanna’s name may be made to Hunterdon Hospice, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822.
