John C. Schorn

August 8, 1930 — August 22, 2024

Our beloved father, John Christian Schorn passed peacefully Thursday, August 22, in his 94th year. He recently celebrated his birthday surrounded by his whole family.

John was born August 8, 1930, in Newark NJ to Jane Evelyn McArthur and Reinhold Julius Schorn. John graduated from West Side High School in Newark with many academic honors.

He went to work at Prudential Insurance Company and then served his country in the Army as an X-ray technician during the Korean War. John returned to Prudential and retired as a Director of Operations in the Woodbridge office. In retirement he served as the Secretary of the NJ Seniors Golf Association.

After marrying his bride, Audrey, they had two daughters (Linda and Tracey) raising them on Manning Avenue in North Plainfield, NJ before moving later in life to North Edison, NJ and finally to Flemington, NJ.

Audrey and John traveled the world and enjoyed meeting friends at the best restaurants in NJ. John was a 66-year NY Giant season ticket holder and loved playing golf. He and Audrey purchased a home in Monterey Beach, NJ and spent many years at the Jersey Shore. That home continues to be a favorite family gathering place where his kids, grandkids and great grandkids enjoy the summer months.

“Pop” John was known by many coaches and families of his grandchildren’s sports teams. He traveled far and wide to see them play and his support and guidance of them through the years was unending and invaluable, leaving behind many warm memories.

John was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Audrey in 2019, and also by brothers Raymond and Richard.

To cherish his memory and legacy are his two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Neil Torino and Tracey and Keith Blazovic, his five Grandchildren; Christian (Nina), Caitlin (Michael), Dan (Pam), Jake and Shane and his six Great Grandchildren; Sofia, Juliana, Geno, Michael, Cameron and Nico.

Arrangements are being handled by Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822. Services will be private.
