John C. Shebey, Sr.

John C. Shebey, Sr., age 81 years, of East Amwell Township, NJ, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Plainfield, NJ, May 2, 1926, son of the late George and Katherine Baka Shebey, he had resided in East Amwell Township, NJ since 1978.

Mr. Shebey was a Plainfield, NJ Firefighter from 1947-1975, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant. He then was employed by the United Trust Company Bank, Plainfield, NJ for fourteen years, retiring in 1991.

He was a member of the Cornerstone Christian Church of Baptistown, NJ and the Fireman's Mutual Benevolent Association.

A United States Navy Veteran of World War II, he was a member of Flemington American Legion Post #159, Flemington, NJ.

Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Borrow Shebey; a son, John Shebey, Jr. of Mountainhome, PA; a daughter Nancy Moyer, of Ringoes, NJ; a brother, William Shebey of North Plainfield, NJ; a sister, Elynor DeSiena of Stirling, NJ; four grandchildren, Carolyn Wowchuk, Christopher Moyer, John C. Shebey III and Laura DiMicco; and five great grandchildren, Kiri Ann Wowchuk, Alex Wowchuk, Madalyn Wowchuk, John C. Shebey, IV and Elaine Ann Shebey.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cornerstone Christian Church, 226 Locktown-Sergeantsville Road, Delaware Township, NJ. Interment will be private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. There are no calling hours.
