John C. Wormke, age 81, died Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township, NJ.
Born June 13, 1936, in Jersey City NJ, John was the son of the late John G. and Ruth (Kohnken) Wormke. He lived in Jersey City until the age of 15 when he moved to Raritan Township and has lived since, along with his cousins, Anna, Rita and Mary. He worked for years on his family poultry farm.
John served as a mechanic in the United States Air Force after his graduation with the Class of 1954 from Flemington High School. Once his military service was completed, John went to work for the VisQueen Corporation (which later became Tredegar Industries), a place that he worked until his retirement as a Quality Assurance Manager for Tredegar. All the while, he worked on the farm with his family for many years.
Predeceased by his parents, his brother Harry T. Wormke in 2010, and his wife, Ida L. Geraghty in 2008, John is survived by his two sons, John C. Wormke, Jr. of Ringoes NJ, and Dr. Mark Wormke of Germany.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 10:30 am in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Reaville, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018 from 9-10 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
