John Edward Strawser, age 74 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Sunday, January 6, 2019 in Rolling Hills Care Center, Clinton Township, NJ.
Born in Phillipsburg, NJ, December 23, 1944, he was the son of the late Jacob Elmer and Helen Wolfe Strawser.
A United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War, John was a self-employed towing and salvage operator, and a lifelong resident of Hunterdon County.
John loved automobiles, and his family was everything to him.
John was predeceased by his sister, Mary Luster. He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Alice Gunther Strawser; a son and daughter-in-law, John E., Jr. and Tracy Strawser of Pittstown, NJ; a daughter and son-in-law, Lori and John Roell of Lebanon, NJ; five grandchildren: John Edward Strawser III, Cassandra Elizabeth Strawser, Alexis Makensie Roell. Carlee Alyssa Roell, and Chloee Madison Roell; two step grandchildren: Samantha Doyle and Charles Doyle; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial gathering and celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 4 PM until 8 PM at Bradley Gardens Reformed Church, 124 Old York Rd, Bridgewater, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be private.
