John Edward Tackett, Sr., age 86 years, of Delaware Township, NJ, died on Monday, July 21, 2014 at his home.
Born in the Bronx, NY, November 21, 1927, he was the son of the late Thomas and Rose Tackett.
He was retired from Colgate-Palmolive where he was a union delegate.
He was a communicant of St. Magdalen Church, Flemington, NJ, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Jubilee Council, Flemington, NJ.
He was a United States Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
He was predeceased by his wife, Joan McIntyre Tackett, in 1997, and was also predeceased by his siblings: Thomas, Margaret, and William. Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, John E. and Carmelann Tackett, Jr. of Flemington, NJ and William J. and Mary Tackett of Flemington, NJ; and five grandchildren: Toni Marie, Erica, Jacqueline, William, and Andrew Tackett.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 10:30 AM in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
