John F. Krauss, 73, died June 20, 1992 in Robert Wood Johnson-University Hospital, New Brunswick.
Born in New York City, he was a former Milltown resident before moving to Flemington in 1946.
Mr. Krauss was a graduate of New Brunswick High School, received a bachelor's degree from Trenton State College and a master's degree in music and music education from Columbia University.
He was a renowned music educator, head of the music department at Flemington High School, and its successor, Hunterdon Central High School, for 32 years, retiring in 1976.
After retiring, he owned and operated Notes-A-Plenty Gift Shop, Flemington.
Mr. Krauss was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a communicant of St. Magdalen Church, Flemington, a former choir director for 15 years, past president of the Flemington Rotary Club, former board member of the Hunterdon County Heart Association, founder and director of the Flemington Summer School of Music, life member of Local No. 746 of the American Federation of Musicians.
Son of the late John J. and Agnes Fukna Krauss, he is survived by his wife, Mary Hubert Krauss; a son, John C. of Morris Plains; a daughter, Mary Krauss of Flemington; a brother, Paul of Bound Brook; and two grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Magdalen Church, Flemington.
Interment was in the parish cemetery, Flemington.
