John F. Stryker

John F. “Jeff” Stryker, age 85 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at his home.

Born in Lebanon, NJ, August 5, 1932, son of the late Harry and Leah Bonser Stryker, Jeff had resided in Hunterdon County all his life.

He owned and operated his family’s business, Stryker’s Paint Store, Inc., Flemington, NJ, until retiring in 2007.

Jeff was a 1950 graduate of Flemington High School and a 1954 graduate of Muhlenberg College, Allentown, PA.

An avid baseball fan, he played baseball at Flemington High School, Muhlenberg College, and as a United States Army veteran in Europe from 1954-1956. Jeff also played baseball in the Tri-County League for the Flemington and Whitehouse teams. He was also an avid NY Giants football fan.

Jeff was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and Flemington Elks Lodge #1928.

His sister, Lois Stryker, died in 1982.

Surviving are his wife of sixty years, Lois Weaver Stryker; three sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Jon Mark Stryker and his wife, Karin, of Pleasant Hill, CA., David Scott Stryker and his wife Kindra, of Raritan Township, NJ and Steven A. Stryker and his wife, Debra, of Kingwood Township, NJ; and nine grandchildren: Elizabeth, Tom, Timothy, Katheryn, Leah, Christopher, Allison, Scott and Brendan.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 8, 2018, at 1:00 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Cherryville Cemetery, Cherryville, NJ. Calling hours will be Thursday 7:00-9:00 PM at the funeral home.
