John G. Tucker, Iii

John G. Tucker, III, age 81 years, of Flemington, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Montgomery, AL, June 28, 1942, he was the son of the late Frances L. (Hurt) Tucker and John “Greg” Tucker, Jr. He was raised in Montgomery, AL and later graduated from Auburn University, where he was a member of the school’s ROTC program.

John then went on to serve in the United States Air Force from 1964-1970. He had several U.S. assignments, but also spent two years abroad serving in Turkey, eventually attaining the rank of Captain.

He married his beloved wife, Leanora F. (Zinna) Tucker on July 15, 1967, and the couple resided overseas and in Texas and then moved to New Jersey. They formerly resided in East Windsor, NJ, then Chester, NJ for 18 years, and finally Flemington, NJ for the last 31 years.

John went on to receive his MBA from Rutgers University. He spent over 40 years in the pharmaceutical industry, travelling and working in project management for various corporations throughout his successful career. He retired in 2011.

In his spare time, he enjoyed fixing things and doing home repairs around the house. In addition, he was an avid golfer.

A man of deep faith, he was a long-time parishioner at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Mendham, NJ, where he was a eucharistic minister, and most recently was a parishioner at the new Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Annandale, NJ since its inception.

In testimony to his great faith, he would often say, “God’s in charge, just have faith”.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 56 years, Leanora F. (Zinna) Tucker of Flemington, NJ; and his three children, Fr. James Tucker of New Jersey, Frances Tucker of Denver, CO, and Kathleen (Tucker) Collins, and her husband Ken, of Ridgewood, NJ.

There will be a visitation on Friday evening, March 22, 2024, from 4:00-6:30 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. A vigil service will take place from 6:30-7:00PM at the funeral home, concluding the visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by his son, Fr. James Tucker, on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ. Military honors and committal prayers will immediately follow mass at Immaculate Conception Mausoleum on the church grounds.
