John H. Purdy, age 68 years, of Hillsborough Township, NJ died on Thursday, June 17, 2004 in Somerset Medical Center, Somerville, NJ.
Born in Trenton, NJ, January 24, 1936, son of the late Frank H. and Margaret Sullivan Purdy, he had formerly resided in Morrisville, PA, then in Ewing Township, NJ, and had resided in Hillsborough Township for the past thirty-two years.
He was a graduate of Rider University and was formerly Director of Computer Services for American Service Corp., Piscataway, NJ.
Ordained a Permanent Deacon in the Diocese of Metuchen twenty years ago, he served in that capacity for one year at Mary Mother of God Church, Flagtown, NJ and for the past nineteen at St. Magdalen Church, Flemington, NJ, where he was also Office Manager.
Surviving are his wife, Joan Wolverton Purdy; two sons and daughters-in-law, John H. and Carol Purdy III of Estelle Manor, NJ, David K. and Dawn Purdy of Hillsborough, NJ; a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Doug Bryan of Hillsborough, NJ; a sister, Joan Dougala of Robbinsville, NJ; and five grandchildren, Collin Purdy, Graham Purdy, D.J. Bryan, Taylor Bryan and Johnathan Bryan, all of Hillsborough, NJ. Another sister, Jane Nami, died earlier.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in St. Magdalen Cemetery, Flemington, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
