John Hill, age 92 years, of Delaware Township, NJ, died on Monday, November 16, 2009 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Cameron, West Virginia, November 6, 1917, son of the late Thomas and Annie Daniels Hill, he had resided in Delaware Township since 1964, having formerly lived in Hamilton Township, NJ.
A United States Navy Veteran of World War II, Mr. Hill served his country from 1940-1946, serving in both the Atlantic and the Pacific. He was formerly a Highway Inspector for the New Jersey Department of Transportation and was a member of the Stockton Rod & Gun Club.
His wife, Sara V. Hill, died in 1995. He was also pre-deceased by two sons, John Richard Hill in 1970 and Gregory Hill in 2007.
Surviving are son, Guy H. Hill of Delaware Township, NJ; a step-son, Frank Earl Smith of Lawrence Township, NJ; two step-daughters, Susan Harned of Woodland Hills, CA and Nancy Gravatt of Lawrence Township, NJ; a sister, Midge Hart of Cameron, WV; fifteen grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Rosemont Cemetery, Rosemont, NJ.
