John Joseph Cust, Sr., (Jack), age 86, passed away on January 5, 2015 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township, NJ, with his family at his side.
Jack was born in Buffalo, NY, August 11, 1928, son of the late John Aloyisus and Katherine Kiernan Cust and spent his youth in Atlantic City, NJ, before moving to Trenton, NJ, where he resided most of his life. In his later years, he resided in Long Port, NJ, and Flemington, NJ.
He graduated from Trenton Catholic High School and the Pennington School. While in high school, he played varsity baseball and football, and was also a varsity wrestler. Upon graduation, he attended Rutgers University.
He was the Traffic Manager for H.M. Royal, Trenton, NJ, for thirty three years. He also had his real estate license with John Simone Realty in Trenton.
He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play baseball.
He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Frances Cust DeStephano.
Surviving are his children, Roxanne Cust of Marlton NJ, and Jack Cust, Jr., and his wife Faith Faherty Cust of Stanton, NJ, and his long-time companion, Jane. He also survived by his four grandchildren, Matthew Higgins of Port St. Lucie, FL, Jack Cust, III, of Bridgewater, NJ, Kevin Kiernan Cust of Three Bridges, NJ, Michael Ryan Cust of Flemington, NJ, and his six great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Friday, January 9, 2015, at St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. Entombment will follow in St. Magdalen Mausoleum in Flemington. Calling hours will be Thursday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hunterdon Medical Center Intensive Care Unit, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822.
