John J. Reseter, Jr., age 67 years, of Franklin Township, NJ passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2022, at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ after a two-year struggle with cancer.
Born in Woodbridge, NJ on May 30, 1954, he was the son of the late Marylou Hudak and John J. Reseter, Sr. As a young man he grew up in the Woodbridge area, and then lived in Milltown, NJ for eight years, finally moving to his dream home and happy place in Hunterdon County, NJ in 1997. This was the house he built by hand, and he proudly created nearly all of its features and details.
John was a self-employed and highly skilled woodworker. His business, Aesthetic Craft Wood Railings, specialized in creating custom wood railings, but he could create beautiful woodwork with cabinetry, floors, moldings, stairs, and artistic creations as well. If it was wood, he could craft it. He loved his work, and it was something he enjoyed for well over thirty years. In fact, he continued to work through his cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy treatments because it made him so happy.
John was always up for an adventure and his motto was “work hard, play hard.” Some of his many hobbies included riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, fishing and crabbing on his boat, going to the beach, island hopping on vacation, sail boating, camping, playing volleyball, skiing, and splitting wood. He also knew how to relax and especially enjoyed going out for “a good burger,” grilling with his family, being a “cool grandpa” to his grandkids, tending to the koi pond he built, and watching the hummingbirds that visited the feeder in his back yard. He could make even the most ordinary events fun with his quirky, upbeat personality and his loud singing.
He will be sorely missed by his wife of twenty-seven years, Barbara A. Reseter, of Annandale, NJ; his three children, Nick (Brenda) Reseter, of San Antonio, TX, Shannon (Bryan) O’Neill, of Yardley, PA, and Taryn (Brandon) Aukamp, of Quarryville, PA; as well as his three grandchildren, Bronson, Marin, and Thea.
