John Ludlow Schenck, Jr., age 93 years, of Hillsborough Township, NJ, died on Monday, December 25, 2006.
John was born in Somerville, NJ on March 5, 1913, son of the late John Ludlow Schenck and Anna Baird Wilson Schenck. He was baptized John Ludlow Schenck, Jr. in Neshanic Reformed Church where he was a lifelong member.
He served as Assistant Superintendent and Treasurer of the Sunday School and Leader of the Adult Bible Study Class; as well as Deacon, Elder, Vice President of Consistory, and was Treasurer of the church for over thirty years.
A 1930 graduate of Somerville High School, Somerville, NJ, he attended the Elizabeth Chapter of the American Institute of Banking and served on the Board of Governers of the Chapter. He held a certificate from the Kennedy-Sinclaire School of Estate Planning. He graduated from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking, Rutgers University, majoring in trusts. He joined the Somerset Trust Company, Somerville, NJ, in 1942 and became Vice President and Trust Officer in 1968. He retired in March, 1978.
Additionally, John was Treasurer and a member of the Board of Somerset County Community Concerts Association and was a member of the Cemetery Commission of Neshanic Cemetery, Neshanic, NJ.
He married Anna Mae Kindt in the First Reformed Church of New Brunswick, NJ on June 15, 1943. She died in 1990.
John, together with Ann, was associated for many years with the Princeton Chapter of International Students, Inc., a Christian organization that provides friendship and help to students and scholars coming from foreign countries to study in the United States.
Surviving are a daughter, Joanne Hope Schenck of Woodbridge, NJ; a son and daughter-in-law, David Alan and Pat Schenck of Tampa, FL; a daughter and son-in-law, Judith Carol Schenck and Mark Holbrook of Pepperell, MA; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the Neshanic Reformed Church, Neshanic, NJ. Interment was private in Neshanic Cemetery, Neshanic, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
