John Scott Donington, age 69 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Monday, October 10, 2005 at Independence Manor, Raritan Township, NJ, where he resided.

Born in Elizabeth, NJ, December 15, 1935, he was the son of the late Joseph Abbott and Anna Lang Donington. He had resided in Springfield, NJ for many years, prior to moving to Raritan Township, NJ five years ago.

He was a self-employed attorney, working in Ewing, NJ. He was a graduate of Seton Hall University, and the Seton Hall School School of Law.

He was a member of the New Jersey Bar Association, and the Essex County Bar Association. He was a former member of the Springfield Lions Club, the Springfield Board of Education, and the Springfield Recreation League, where he was active in the Minutemen Basketball Program. He was a communicant of St. Magdalen Church, Flemingtion, NJ.

Surviving are his wife, Lynne Erb Donington; seven daughters; Suzanne DelVecchio of Cranford, NJ, Rebecca Donington of Rumson, NJ, Dr. Jessica Donington of Menlo Park, CA, Amy Donington of Red Bank, NJ, Rachel Donington Torpey of Pennington, NJ, Abigail Donington of Westfield, NJ, and Sarah Donington Barry of Cranford, NJ; a son, Joseph Donington of Pennington, NJ; a brother, Joseph Abbott Donington of Chatham, NJ; a sister, Maryann Weyman of Southport, NC; and thirteen grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday at 10 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, Short Hills, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be private in Evergreen Cemetery, Hillside, NJ. There will be no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hunterdon Hospice, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ.
