John W. Benson, Sr.

John W. "Jack" Benson, Sr., age 71 years, of Readington Township, NJ, died on Thursday, February 25, 2010, at his residence.

Born in Jersey City, NJ, July 18, 1938, he was the son of the late William and Jean Mance Benson. He had formerly resided in Oldwick, NJ.

He owned and operated the Briarwood Farm and Stables, Readington Township, NJ. He was a member of the New Jersey Professional Horseman's Association.

Surviving are his wife, Katharine Plum Benson; two sons, Christopher of St. Louis, MO, and Jack, Jr. at home; a daughter, Elizabeth Jean Benson at home; and a sister, Gloria King of Lady Lake, FL.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 1, 2010 at 5 PM in the Stanton Reformed Church, Stanton, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be private. There will be no calling hours.
