John Whitlock, Jr., age 93 years, of Danville, VA, died on March 17, 2011 in Chatham Health and Rehabilitation Center, Chatham, VA.
Born in Ringoes, NJ, November 16, 1917, he was the son of the late John L. and Eva Holcombe Whitlock. He had resided most of his life in Hunterdon County, NJ.
He was formerly employed by William Stothoff and Company, Flemington Junction, NJ. He served in the United States Army as a Medical Technician with the 94th Evacuation Hospital in Africa and Italy during World War II, and served in the invasions of Anzio and Salerno.
Mr. Whitlock enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and square dancing.
He was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church and American Legion Post #325, Danville, VA.
His first wife, Edna Danforth Whitlock, died in 1979. Surviving are his wife, Mary McGuire Whitlock and several nieces and nephews. He was also pre-deceased by three sisters and one nephew.
Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 11 AM in Locust Grove Cemetery, Quakertown, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
