Joseph C. Rekowski, age 73 years, of Flemington, NJ, died Friday, January 13, 2017, at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, May 24, 1943, son of the late William and Jean Juniewicz Rekowski, he had resided in Hunterdon County since 1973.
A former restauranteur and truck driver, he was a member and deacon of the Heritage Baptist Church, Flemington, NJ and was also a former member of the Teamsters Union.
Joseph was a US Navy veteran serving 1960-1963 during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-five years, Theresa DiGiacinto Rekowski;; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandi and Charles Fisher of Flemington, NJ; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Jennifer Rekowski of Ringgold, VA., and Joseph C. and Terah Rekowski of Kingwood Township, NJ; a brother, Walter Rekowski of Simpsonville, SC; a sister, Susan Bischoff of New Bern, NC; and eleven grandchildren, Abigail Fisher, Hannah Fisher, Nicholas Rekowski, William Rekowski, Olivia Rekowski, Samuel Rekowski, Elizabeth Rekowski, Benjamin Rekowski, Noah Karnes, Chelsea Karnes and Alyssa Karnes.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Heritage Baptist Church, 1 Autumn Leaf Drive, Flemington, NJ. There will be no calling hours. Following the service family and friends are invited to Razberry's Banquet Center, 834 NJ-12, Frenchtown, NJ for food and refreshment. Cremation services were private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
