Joseph F. Kleczynski, age 80, of Flemington, NJ, died on Monday, September 1, 2014 at Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Shamokin, PA, on April 5, 1934, he was the son of the late Albert and Nellie Kleczynski. Joe retired in 1997 after 36 years of teaching mathematics at Hunterdon Central High School, where he also served as the head basketball and baseball coach for many years. Joe played baseball for the Phillies and Braves organizations. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Joe received his Bachelor’s degree from Bloomsburg University and his Master’s degree from Trenton State College (The College of New Jersey).
Predeceased by a sister, Patricia Martini, he is survived his wife of 53 years, Rosemary Zaneski Kleczynski, three daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Michael McCance of Bath, PA, Sharon and Larry Walczak of Stuart, FL, Linda and Paul Merbedone of Shamong, NJ, a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Jennifer Kleczynski of Ringoes, NJ, a sister, Theresa Heinritz of Severna Park, MD, and three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Lexy, and Rachael.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. Burial will follow in St. Magdalen Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
A scholarship fund in Joe’s memory may be made to the Joe Kleczynski Scholarship Fund, HCRHS, 84 Route 31, Flemington, NJ 08822 Attn: Business Office.
