Joseph J. Cvetan

Joseph J. Cvetan, age 85 years, of Port St. Lucie, FL, died on Saturday, September 1, 2007 in Port St. Lucie Medical Center.

Born in Hoboken, NJ, son of the late Anton and Pauline Uberlaver Cvetan, he had formerly resided in East Amwell Township, NJ, then West Amwell Township, NJ most of his life until moving permantly to Port St. Lucie, FL three years ago.

He owned and operated a produce and trucking business in West Amwell Township before retiring. A communicant of St. Alphonsus Church, Hopewell, NJ, Mr. Cvetan was a charter member of Hopewell Council #7103 of the Knights of Columbus; a life member of Lambertville Elks Lodge #1070; and was a former member of the Amwell Valley Fire Co., Ringoes, NJ.

A 1942 graduate of Flemington High School, he was a member of the NJ Vegetable Growers Association and was an avid bowler participating in several bowling leagues and bowling tournaments. In later years, he enjoyed gaming casinos, especially playing blackjack.

Surviving are his wife of fifty-nine years, Helen Ecker Cvetan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joanne and Fred Stuart of Port St. Lucie, FL and Colleen and John Ash of Hartville, OH; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Cheryl Cvetan of New Hope, PA; five grandchildren, Michelle Welsh, Ali Cvetan, Robert Cvetan, Casey Ash and Joanne Ash; two step-grandchildren, Nicki Fariss and Mark Stuart; and two great granddaughters, Alexis Welsh and Nikole Welsh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, September 10, 2007, at 10 AM in St. Alphonsus Church, Hopewell, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery, Hopewell, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 7-9 PM in the Funeral Home.
