Joseph M. Marino, age 74 years, of Stewartsville, NJ, was killed in an auto accident Sunday, November 14, 2004 in Greenwich Township, NJ, along with his wife Carmen.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, February 16, 1930, son of the late Anthony and Carmela Marino, he had formerly resided in Staten Island, NY before moving to Stewartsville five years ago.
He was a retired meat inspector with the US Department of Agriculture, New York City, NY and served in the US Army during the Korean War.
A talented artist, he was active in several retiree clubs and was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels of Warren County. Mr. Marino also volunteered at the State Theater, Easton, PA and was a communicant of St. Phillip and St. James Church, Phillipsburg, NJ and also the Church of the Annunciation, Bloomsbury, NJ.
He and his wife, Carmen, were married for forty-nine years. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Carmel and Edward Gettings of Raritan Township, NJ; two grandchildren, Carmel K. Gettings of Manhattan, NY and E.J. Gettings of Raritan Township, NJ; two brothers, Michael Marino of Brooklyn, NY and Neal Marino of Staten Island, NY; and two sisters, Julia Giaramica of Brooklyn, NY and Anna Ciancarelli of Martinsburg, WV.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. Entombment will follow in St. Magdalen Mausoleum, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be held Tuesday (November 16, 2004) from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday (November 17, 2004) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
