Joseph M. Rake

Joseph M. Rake, age 84 years, of Flemington, NJ, died Monday, April 22, 2019, at Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Flemington, NJ, January 30, 1935, son of the late Albert and Elsie Rake, he had formerly resided in Toms River, NJ and in Whiting, NJ, before returning to the Flemington area this year.

Joe was a US Army veteran who loved driving anywhere and anytime and was also a former member of the Sergeantsville Fire Co.

Joe was formerly employed by Mannon Excavating, Flemington, NJ before retiring. After retiring, he was employed as a bus driver.

His wife, Mary Burd Rake, died in 2015, and a daughter and a granddaughter, Doris Rake and Kathryn Haney, also died in 2015.

Surviving are three daughters, Donna Gresko of Bordentown, NJ, Eleanor Fama of Philadelphia, PA. and Elsie Fleming of Upper Black Eddy, PA; four brothers, Leslie Rake of Whiting, NJ, Ronald Rake in PA, Allen Rake of Florida, and Wayne Rake of Phillipsburg, NJ; a sister, Nancy Ramsby of PA.; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 26, 2019, at 12 Noon in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment with Military Honors will be in Harbourton Cemetery, Harbourton, NJ. Calling hours will be Friday 10:00AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
