Joseph Nicholas Lizzi, age 81 years, of Alexandria Township, NJ, died on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Carbondale, PA, July 7, 1928, son of the late Fransico and Angelina Carlandro Lizzi, he had resided in Alexandria Township since 1973, having formerly lived many years in Plainfield, NJ.

A United States Marine Corps Veteran of World War II, Mr. Lizzi owned and operated 'Lawnmower Rebuilders,' Plainfield, NJ for over thirty years. He then went on to work for the County of Hunterdon, NJ as an Air Conditioning/Heating Repairman.

A former member of St. Edward the Confessor Church, Milford, NJ and St. Catherine of Siena Church, Pittstown, NJ, Mr. Lizzi was a faithful communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, Annandale, NJ. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle as well as flying recreational airplanes, performing aerobatics.

He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Louise Daniel; a son, Danny Lizzi; and two granddaughters, Tamara Jane Lizzi and Theresa Pagano.

Surviving are his wife, with whom he joined hands in marriage in 1950, Louise Josephine Turi Lizzi; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Joseph Lizzi of Flemington, NJ, Lenny and Barbara Lizzi of Flemington, NJ and Tom and Sue Lizzi of Oxford, NJ; a daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Greg Pagano of Readington Township, NJ; fourteen grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ, 08801, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery located on the church grounds. Calling hours will Sunday from 1:00-5:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home.
