Joseph Palecek, age 90 years, of Skillman, NJ, died on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 in a fire at his home.
Born in New York City, NY, August 3, 1914, son of the late William and Mary Palecek, he had formerly resided in Florida before moving to Skillman over fifty years ago.
He was a general contractor in Florida and later was a shipping clerk with Ingersall-Rand corp., Rocky Hill, NJ.
Mr. Palecek was an Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II, serving as a B-17 Gunner in Europe and Africa and was the recipient of two Purple Hearts. Additionally, he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Hopewell, NJ American Legion Post.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Gerry Franke of Ringoes, NJ; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A Joint Memorial Service for Mr. Palecek and his wife, Jane Palecek, who also perished in the fire, will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at 3 p.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
