Joseph R. DeSimone passed away at his home on Long Beach Island, on Friday July 17th, 2015, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jeannette; his daughter Dana DeSimone, and her husband Todd Uresse, their 2 daughters Stella Hope and Sydney Faith; his daughter Debra Patterson, her husband, William Patterson; their 2 children Liam Joseph and Cassidy Ann; and his sister, Carole Dames.
Joseph was born in Elizabeth on August 1, 1939. He was raised in Linden, and graduated Linden High School. Joseph began his career in the food industry working in the warehouse at Food Fair, and retired in 2005 as the Sr. Vice President of warehousing and distribution for DiGiorgio Corporation. During his career, Joseph mentored many and established long lasting friendships.
Joseph and Jeannette raised their family in Colonia, for 37 years, before moving to Flemington. In July 1989, Joseph and Jeannette purchased a home in Beach Haven Crest; where they enjoyed many summers with family and friends.
Joseph will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather and trusted friend. Joseph enjoyed, planting and tending to his flowers, playing cards, doing puzzles, relaxing on LBI, spending time with his family and friends, and eating good food. Joe De, fondly known as “Joe Nails”, was a kind, fun spirited, trusted gentleman who passed peacefully in his favorite place, with his wife by his side.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, July 23, 2015, at 10:45 AM at St. John Vianney RC Church, 420 Inman Avenue, Colonia, NJ, followed by entombment in St. Gertrude's Mausoleum, Colonia, NJ. Calling hours will be Wednesday 2:00-4:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
The family requests donation be made to Hunterdon Cancer Center, Flemington or Van Dyke Hospice, Toms River.
