Joseph W. Barrick, 88, of Flemington died Tuesday, March 13, in Independence Manor, Raritan Township. He was an insurance adjuster at Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. in Flemington, retiring in 1987. Before that, he was an adjuster for Home Insurance Co. in New York City for 35 years. Born Aug. 22, 1912, he was a son of the late Andrew and Mattie Warne Barrick. He resided in Flemington since 1946. He was a member of Flemington Baptist Church, where he was former choir director, baritone soloist and deacon. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a founding member of the Flemington Tennis Club, where he was the first president and a tennis instructor. He was also a tennis instructor for the Hunterdon County Adult Education Program. He was a former member of the Flemington Kiwanis Club.

His wife, the former Virginia Ehrenfeld, died in 1996.

He is survived by a son, Eric of New York City, and a nephew.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the church, Main and Church

streets, Flemington. Call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main St., Flemington.

Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Flemington. The family requests memorials to the church, Flemington, NJ 08822.
