Joseph W. Stolle

March 5, 1944 — April 21, 2024

Joseph W. Stolle, age 80 years, died Sunday, April 21, 2024 at the Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Township, NJ.

Born March 5, 1944 in Astoria, New York, Joe was the son of the late Joseph and Katherine (Schroeder) Stolle. He was raised and lived his whole life in Hunterdon County, NJ.

Joe received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering at Monmouth University (NJ) and worked as an Electrical Engineer for Jersey Central Power & Light for more than 40 years. His talents as an engineer led him to a love of computers. He had a passion for analyzing and solving problems and he could often be found tinkering and fixing things around his home and property.

Joe was described as a “quiet, wonderful guy” that would do nearly anything for someone in need. Joe grew up on his family farm and developed a love for all animals, especially the many cats in his life. A person who enjoyed being outdoors, Joe could often be found feeding the many birds that came to his home or tending to his bountiful flower and vegetable garden.

Joe and his wife of more than 52 years, Marie, spent many vacations traveling throughout the United States with favorite stops in Cape Cod Massachusetts, Virginia, Vermont, and countless trips to Amish Country in central Pennsylvania. The two enjoyed antiquing, going to flea markets, town sales, estate sales, attending antique tractor shows and sometimes finding a treasure to bring home. More than anything else, they enjoyed each other’s company.

Other favorite pastimes included listening to some classic Country music from Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Sr., George Jones and others. Joe had a talent and interest in photography and often snapped photos from vacations and the local scenery of Hunterdon County.

His Catholic faith was very important, and he was a member of St. Magdalen Church in Flemington for many years.

In addition to his parents, Joe was recently predeceased earlier this year by his mother-in-law, Frances Artigliere . He is survived by his beloved wife, Marie (Siciliano) Stolle, his brother and sister-in-law, John and Cait Stolle of Wisconsin, his two brothers-in-law and their wives, Alphonse and Joyce Siciliano of Florida, and Stephen and Julie Siciliano of Madison NJ, his nephews and nieces, Stephen Siciliano Jr. and his wife Molly (and their children, Stephen III and Mason), Patrick Siciliano, Brittany Siciliano, Annie and Tim Dixon (and their children Gavin and Russel) and Josh and Saraswati Drinkard of New Mexico (and their children Mason and Ainsly).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, April 26, 2024 at St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington NJ. Interment will follow at St. Magdalen Cemetery in Flemington. Calling hour will be Friday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 am at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ 08822.
