Joseph William Goodwin

Joseph W. Goodwin, age 82 years, of Delaware Township, NJ, died on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at his residence.

Born in Newark, NJ, April 3, 1926, he was the son of the late Frank and Winifred McCarthy Goodwin. Originally from Roseland, NJ, he had resided in Delaware Township for twenty-five years.

He was a graduate of Caldwell High School, attended Seton Hall University, and was a graduate of the American Institute of Banking.

He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America since 1940.

He was past president of the Hunterdon County Baking Guild and a Master Gardener.

He was an Executive Vice President of First National State Bank and Midlantic Bank. In 1976 he became President and CEO of a Pennsylvania bank. He retired in 1990 after serving as Vice Chairman, President and CEO of Unitas Bank.

Mr. Goodwin is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Katherine Turner Goodwin; a nephew; and six first cousins.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 3 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be private in Rosemont Cemetery, Rosemont, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 2 PM until time of service.
