Josephine O. “Punchy” Fisher, age 86 years, of Flemington, NJ died on Monday, March 14, 2005 at her residence.
Born in Quakertown, NJ, September 25, 1918, daughter of the late Ernest A. and Edna Brown Oaks, she had resided in Flemington since 1937.
She was a graduate of Flemington High School, Class of 1935 and of Churchman’s Business School, Easton, PA. She formerly was bookkeeper and receptionist at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, Flemington, NJ for many years.
Mrs. Fisher was a member of the Flemington Presbyterian Church and its’ Women’s Association; member of the Flemington Woman’s Club; life member of the Community Garden Club of Hunterdon County; member of the Hunterdon County Soroptimist Club, the Copper Hill Country Club, Raritan Township, NJ, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Hamilton Square, NJ.
Her husband, Charles R. Fisher, died in 2000. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Charles H. and Elizabeth Fisher of Flemington, NJ; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Fisher Christie and John Christie of Delaware Township, NJ; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a sister, Mildred F. Oaks of Frenchtown, NJ.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, March 18, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment followed in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ.
