Joyce D. Adams, age 88, of Lecanto, Florida, died Friday, March 29, 2019 following a period of declining heath.
Born in Fort Fairfield, Maine, May 26, 1930 and daughter of the late William and Nellie White Deschesne, Joyce was formerly an account manager for The Hartford Insurance Group in Connecticut. She was predeceased by her husband, Omar S. Adams, Sr. in 2016, one young child Benjamin A. Adams, her six brothers, and three of her five sisters.
Joyce attended school in Fort Fairfield and was married to Omar S. Adams, Sr. on Christmas Day, 1947. They farmed in Fort Fairfield during the 1950’s and attended the Bethel Baptist Church there. For twenty-seven years they made their home in East Hartford, Connecticut (1962 to 1989), retired then to Beverly Hills, Florida, where they lived until October of 2014, and thereafter moved to the Brentwood Assisted Living facility in Lecanto. They were active, devoted members of the Heritage Baptist Church in Beverly Hills and had been active members in the several previous churches they attended during their lifetimes.
She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law: John “Jack” and Heather Adams of Alexandria, NJ, Christopher D. and Cathyann Adams of Springfield, VT, Eric W. and Amy Adams of Boise, ID, Dr. Omar S., Jr. and Lois Adams of Chicopee, MA, two daughters and one son-in-law, Elaine Armstrong of Cocoa, FL and Lori Jane and Rev. Kim Fox of Lebanon, PA, twenty-three grandchildren, and forty-one great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 13, 2019, at Heritage Baptist Church, 1 Autumn Leaf Drive, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours on that day will precede the service, beginning at 10:00 AM with the funeral at 11:00 AM. A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow in the church fellowship hall for all who wish to attend. Interment will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, ME.
