Juan Vilaragut died on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at nearly 87 years, at the Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Township, NJ.
Born May 24, 1929 in Cruces, Cuba, Juan was the son of the late Juan and Generosa (Sanchez) Vilaragut. He moved to Brooklyn, New York, owned and operated T & J Tires in Brooklyn with his wife, Teresa. The couple lived in Florida for many years before moving to the Flemington area more than ten years ago.
He was a member of St. Magdalen Church in Flemington for many years. When not working, Juan could often be found fishing, whether at the beach or offshore, or spending time with his family.
Predeceased by his parents and several siblings, Juan is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Teresa Sotolongo Vilaragut, his three daughters, Teresita Vilaragut-Pennington of Florida, Pia Vilaragut of Flemington, and Lizette Vilaragut-Metz of Flemington, and his seven grandchildren, Jon, James, and Justin Pennington, Amanda and Taylor Giardina, and Derek and Elizabeth Knoop.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment of cremated remains will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Flemington. Calling hour will be from 12:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
