Judith J. Jaheriss

April 20, 1950 — July 31, 2024

Judith J. Jaheriss, age 74, died Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township, NJ surrounded with love by friends and family.

Born April 20, 1950 in Rockville Centre NY, Judy was the daughter of the late Charles Franklin and Margaret (Hansen) Jones. She lived for many years in Roswell, GA and Knoxville TN before moving to Hunterdon County New Jersey in 1991 where she has lived since.

A career nurse, Judy received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Mercy College (now Mercy University) in Dobbs Ferry NY, and her Nursing Degree from Cochran School of Nursing in Yonkers NY. She completed certifications in Gerontology and Wound Care as well.

Judy dedicated her life’s work to helping others. She was a registered nurse that held her career as a foundational point to her extensive career. She fully encapsulated what it meant to be a nurse. She touched everyone who ever worked with her including the patients she cared for. Judy was a unit coordinator at Hunterdon Care Center before being employed for many years as a staff nurse at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington NJ. She then moved into the Wound Care Center where she retired in 2011.

Outside of her extensive nursing career, Judy’s friends and family were also captivated by her amazing spirit and open, nurturing arms. She had a smile and spirit that radiated the room and an infectious hug that would make all your cares drift away. She encapsulated the spirit of love and radiated it to all those that knew her.

On most weekends, you could find Judy scrapbooking with her scrapbooking sisters. This was a main hobby of Judy’s and she loved preserving her memories through scrapbooking. She made many albums of trips, holidays, and family time. Judy enjoyed her time with her Scrap, Paper, Sister group where she made many friends and even went on a scrapbooking cruise. These albums will be enjoyed by her family for many years to come.

When Judy wasn’t scrapbooking, she was spending time with her family or embarking on another traveling adventure. She loved to explore the world in the company of her close friends and her family. Her family was one of her most important treasures and making memories and finding new adventures was always on her bucket list. She loved deeply, and cared deeply and will be missed deeply. To know her is to love her and to be loved by her.

Judy’s grandchildren, Sydney and Hunter Heffernan were her world and so very important to her. When she retired, she took on a caretaking role while living with Kristy and her family. She was the center of their lives and theirs hers. It has got to be said that the bond they all shared is something that needs to be strived for as it was the purest definition of unconditional love.

In addition to her parents, Judy was pre-deceased by her husband, Rich Jaheriss in 2006, sister, Susan Colvin in 2009 and her son, Jim Jaheriss in 2021. She is survived by her daughter, Kristy Jaheriss and her husband, Kristian Gilbreath of Lebanon Township NJ, her grandchildren, Sydney and Hunter Heffernan, and her brother, Bill Jones of Farmingdale NY.
