Julia Pauline Silliman

Julia Pauline Silliman, age 90, died Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Independence Manor in Raritan Township, NJ.

Born April 12, 1933 in Brooklyn NY, Julia was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie (Gembinski) Wodjat.

Julia worked for many years in the Hunterdon County area in the banking industry, first as a Bookkeeper and eventually as an Administrative Assistant, and retired in a similar capacity from the Clinton Township School in New Jersey.

In her younger years, Julia would enjoy dancing (especially a good Polka Dance!) with her late husband, Alfred. She was a very good bowler and the two were members of many bowling leagues for years at the Oakwood Lanes in Washington Township NJ.

Julia and Alfred retired to Florida where she became an avid golfer, joining and playing many rounds at the Seven Rivers Golf Club in Crystal River FL. She was an active member of the club, often volunteering to help organize many social functions there.

Julia loved knitting, crocheting and crafting – her many beautiful hand-knit sweaters and crafts have been handed down to her great-grandchildren for use even today! Many of Julia’s happiest memories were centered in the sun and the sand; trips to the beach which included different places at the Jersey Shore, brought her so much joy.

In addition to her parents, Julia was predeceased by her husband, Alfred R. Silliman in 2016, and her brother, Gregory Wodjat in 1999. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Valerie Wodjat of Homosassa FL, her three daughters, Debbie and her husband, Gary Carvatt of Hampton NJ, Susan Silliman and her partner, Robert Fandel of Lebanon NJ, and Jody and her husband, Jeff Klein of Flemington NJ, her four grandchildren, Rebecca and her husband, Bay McLaughlin of San Francisco, CA, Juliana and her husband, Jeffrey Wiedemann of Logan Township NJ, James Klein of Flemington NJ, and Jessica Klein of Chicago IL, as well as her four great-grandchildren, Skye, Cedar, Grace and Lily.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822. Interment will be private. Calling hour will be from 1:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home on November 28, 2023.
