Julianne (Liane) Renee Miller, age 82 years, formerly of Kingwood Township, NJ, died on Monday, July 3, 2017 at Atrium Senior Living in Princeton, N.J.
Born in France on July 21, 1934, she was the eldest daughter of the late Charles and Marie Biederman Nicolaus.
Liane was trained as an accountant, and in her 20’s worked as an assistant casting director under Margot Capelier in Paris. She claimed to have been born a lefty but in kindergarten was forced to become a righty, an event she said set the groundwork for a lifetime of unorthodox thinking habits. Liane met her future husband on a film shoot in the Po Valley in Italy and followed her heart to the United States. She loved being a mother to her three children, and caring for a coterie of dogs, cats, ducks, geese, parakeets and turtles. She was a thrilled and adoring grandmother. Sometimes called “Frenchy”, Liane was known far and wide around Stockton, N.J. for her sense of humor, generosity, “whimsical” spending habits and style. She was most loved for welcoming all into her home for scrumptious cooking, jokes, and long conversations and opinions about politics, justice, art, movies, books, the nuances of certain cheese varieties, where to get the best (Silver Queen) corn and local gossip.
Her husband, JP Miller, died in 2001. She is survived by her sisters, Hélène Léon, Christine Nicolaus, and her brother, Charles Nicolaus, six nieces and nephews, her daughter, Lia Miller and her husband Carter Jordan, her daughter Sophie Miller and her husband Gabriele Solarino, her son Milo Miller and his wife Shannon Monahan and seven grandchildren.
