June Stryker Amerman, 83, formerly of Neshanic Station, NJ, passed away unexpectedly on March 12, 2014 in the Somerset Medical Center with her family at her side.

June was the daughter of the late Adelaide and James Stryker of South Branch, NJ. She completed her primary education years at the one room historic schoolhouse in South Branch and graduated from Somerville High School in 1948. June was employed by Ortho Pharmaceuticals as an Assistant to the Treasurer and worked as an Office Clerk with the family business, JS Amerman Building Supply Co.

June was active in the first Somerset County 4-H Sewing and Cooking Club and maintained friendships with many of the original club members throughout her life. She was active with the Neshanic Garden Club and a devoted member of the Neshanic Reformed Church serving as an elder, deacon and tireless contributor to the church fundraising and hospitality events. Most recently, June and her husband George sold their home in Neshanic and moved to the Stonebridge at Montgomery “Senior Campus” in Skillman, NJ where she had developed many new wonderful friendships.

June loved her family and enjoyed life to the fullest.

She married George Amerman on April 7, 1951 and would have celebrated their 64th anniversary next month. In addition to her husband she is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Carol and Ray Hawkins of Basking Ridge, NJ and Lynda and Courtney Van Kleeck of Colchester, VT; cherished grandmother of Karen Van Kleeck of Waltham, MA; Sara Hawkins of Arlington, VA; Matthew Van Kleeck of Watertown, MA; Ashley Hawkins of Denver, CO and Craig Hawkins of Chestnut Hill, MA; and a brother James Stryker of Maryland. She was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Sipler. June’s kind heart and warm smile will be deeply missed by her family and countless friends.

A celebration of June’s life will take place on Saturday, April 12 at 1:00 p.m. in the Neshanic Reformed Church, Amwell Road, Neshanic, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be private in Neshanic Cemetery, Neshanic, NJ.
