Karen Chapin Walters, age 61, of Holland Township, NJ passed away Wednesday, June 27th at her home.
Born in Bethlehem, PA on February 3rd, 1957, Karen was the daughter of the late Dr. Sherwood G. and Sandra (Sielcken) Walters. Karen lived in Sergeantsville, NJ when she graduated from Hunterdon Central Regional High School with the Class of 1975, then earning her BA degree at Rutgers University.
Karen worked for most of her career as a Logistics Manager for companies including Kidder Peabody, Paine Webber, and UBS Corporation in New York City. Later, Karen became a receptionist for Atlas Chiropractic in Upper Black Eddy, PA. She concurrently also dedicated her life to helping people in her community, including private clients as “Rent-a-Daughter!” Karen enjoyed and treasured the bonds she established with many individuals through her work.
Karen was a kind, friendly, warm, and spiritual soul with a wonderful sense of humor. Her sharp memory for details contributed to her finesse in telling stories about her solo adventures, as well as her countless stories of adventures and memories with all her relatives and many friends.
Karen’s love of the outdoors and nature included many canoe trips over the years and in the recent past she organized and led canoeing trips on the Delaware River. Her home, patio, and yard are filled with trees, flower gardens, and birds which were her sanctuary, pride, and joy. Firefly gazing was a special summertime passion Karen enjoyed in solitude and with friends and family.
Karen’s green thumb led not only to a wide variety of beautiful flowers from her gardens, but also displayed her amazing flower arranging talent. Karen loved to give her flower arrangements to family, friends, and a long-term care facility. Her beautifully decorated evergreen centerpieces with candles were always part of the holiday table throughout the years. Her exquisite taste was evident in her collection of antiques, art and her wardrobe. Karen also had passions for music and dancing. She would travel far and wide to see musicians and bands, to meet up with her friends, and dance the night away!
Predeceased by her parents and her sister, Margie Clifford in 2017, Karen is survived by her brother-in-law Ray Clifford, her brother, George Walters II and Pati Granger, her sister, Virginia Walters McFee and husband Chris, her nephew George Walters III, his wife Sunny, and her two grand nieces Johanna and Vivian, her niece, Cassie Morgan, and her husband, Grant, as well as many special and beloved cousins, extended family and cherished friends.
