Karen S. Fretz

Karen S. Fretz, age 65, of Holland Township NJ, died Friday, June 21, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital-Warren in Phillipsburg NJ.

Born August 18, 1958 in Stockton NJ, Karen was the daughter of the late Samuel and Bessie (Gill) Cochran, and she lived in Hunterdon County her entire life.

Karen loved to cook and bake and was well-known by so many for her annual Christmas cookies. When Karen was younger, her family took many camping trips throughout the United States, visiting many National Parks and sites along the way. In her spare time, she often was on one of her daily telephone calls with her sisters, enjoyed watching the Home Shopping Network, playing a game of Tripoley, or completing a jigsaw, crossword, or word puzzle. Some of her favorite times were spent with her three grandchildren, whom she adored.

Karen is survived by her husband of 46 years, Joseph Fretz, daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Tom Smith of Frenchtown NJ, her son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Sarah Fretz of Charleston SC, her three grandchildren, Jaclyn Smith, Charlie Smith, and Charlotte Fretz, as well as her two brothers, Samuel Cochran, and Donald Cochran and her three sisters, Sally Horner, Linda Liggett, and Theresa Furstenberg.

Funeral services for Karen will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ 08822. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Flemington NJ. Calling hours will be from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
