Katie A. Bright, age 53 years, of Milford, NJ, died on Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Columbus, OH, March 3, 1952 to Doris Rohn Bright of Lakeside, Ohio and the late Rev. Harry E. Bright, she grew up in Ohio and had resided in Milford the past five years, having previously lived in Flemington, NJ and South Plainfield, NJ.

Ms. Bright received her BA in Art from Akron University, Akron, Ohio and then went on to receive her MA in Dance Movement Therapy from Goddard College, Plainfield, VT.

A member of the United Methodist Church, Ms. Bright was a self-employed Educational Therapist, Tutor and Consultant. A former Vice-President and multi-term Board Member of the International Dyslexia Association, she received the Outstanding Achievement Award from the NJ Chapter of the International Dyslexia Association. She had a passion for her profession, and could be considered married to her work. She also loved the many summers she spent in Lakeside where she worked at the Abigail Tea Room and on the Gates.

In 2003, Katie received The Beautification Award from the Milford Merchants Association for her volunteer work in maintaining gardens on the bridge.

Surviving, in addition to her mother, are a sister and brother-in-law, Laurie B. and Brian Beam of Wooster, OH; two nieces, Lisa Beam of Cleveland, OH and Ashley Beam of Wooster, OH; her companion of the last fifteen years, Peter O’Grady of Bloomfield, NJ, and many loving friends whom she considered as family.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the family plot in Pike Run Cemetery, Gomer, Ohio. Arrangements are by the the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Please visit www.holcombefisher.com for further information or to send condolences.
