Kathryn A. Monsell

Kathryn Alice Monsell, 91, of New Providence, NJ, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020 of natural causes. Born February 1, 1929 in Maplewood, NJ, the daughter of Charles Francis and Elizabeth O’Reilly Remlinger. Kathryn lived in New Providence, NJ for 56 years. Moving to her daughter, Irene’s house in 2010 to 2013. She moved to Brookdale Assisted Living and then to Foothill Acres Nursing Home in Hillsborough, NJ. Kathryn also known as Katie was a graduate of Columbia School, Maplewood, NJ. She worked at Bambergers in 1946 as a Salesgirl working her way up to Assistant Sales Manager in Newark, NJ and then Plainfield, NJ, until 1956. Later in life she worked in Roots Men’s Clothing Store in Summit, NJ from 1978 and retiring in 1993. Kathryn was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church in New Providence, NJ. Growing up she made her own clothes. She made many outfits for her daughters when they were growing up. She even made outfits for their Barbie dolls. In the 70s she was a Girl Scout Leader having meetings at Hillview School. She loved to do crafts, making Christmas ornaments, tote bags, making pillows and many other Do It Yourself Projects. Kathryn was the beloved wife of 43 years to Jesse Monroe Monsell, Jr. She is survived by Carolyn Luery, Alice Jean Monsell and her husband Paulo Araujo, Irene Harms and her husband Bruce Harms, and Susan Monsell O’Brien and her husband Alan O’Brien. She is also survived by her five Grandchildren, Scott, Jeffrey, Eric, Jesse and Shane. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 21, 2020 at 11:30 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Hamilton Cemetery, Neptune, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 10:30 AM until time of service in the funeral home.
