Kathy Miner

Kathy Miner, 76, of Clinton, New Jersey, passed peacefully at her home on February 11, 2021.

Kathy was born on June 29, 1944 in Duluth, Minnesota. She was adopted into the loving family of Lois (Smith) Miner and Robert V. Miner of Huron, South Dakota. She, and her older brother, Bobby, spent their early childhood in Indianapolis, Indiana, before they moved to Flemington, New Jersey. She attended Hunterdon Central High School where she developed many lasting friendships and participated in many activities including cheerleading, student council, and serving as chairman for the orphan Christmas drive.

After graduating, she married Robert Bolig and they had two children, Todd and Paige, who she wholeheartedly loved and with whom she shared many adventures. She worked for the Flemington Cut Glass, the Flemington Fur Company, and both worked and played tennis at the Hunterdon Health and Fitness Center.

Kathy returned to Indianapolis where she married Geoffrey Fillingsness, a native of South Dakota, where she worked as a concierge at the Indianapolis Hyatt Regency. After many years, she and Geoff moved to Beresford, South Dakota, where they renovated homes, barns and a large church. Together they traveled and spent time with family and friends.

Back in New Jersey for the past three decades, Kathy enjoyed time with her many friends and her children. She was an adoring grandmother to Skylar and Brooke - a true Grandma in every sense of the word … a babysitter, a teacher, and a friend who shared life lessons and wisdom with them. Throughout her life and until her passing, she remained active, walking daily, playing tennis, and striving to challenge herself with art projects and learning piano.

Along the way she was blessed to learn about and be reunited with her biological family that had been scattered from each other in their early lives. Amazingly, Kathy was the fourth of twelve siblings. Every day she woke with a happy heart, eager for adventure, and to share time with friends and family. She was a true giver and a beautiful soul.

She is survived by her children, Paige Burt and her husband, Michael; Todd Bolig and his wife, Michelle; her grandchildren, Skylar Burt, Brooke Burt, and Nicholas Forster; Robert Bolig, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; Geoffrey Fillingsness, Beresford, South Dakota; her niece, Susan B. Bolig; her nephew, Michael R. Bolig; her siblings, Robert Miner and his wife, Diane; Bonnie Lingren, Glendive, Montana; Doug Shrotsky, Prior Lake, Minnesota; Pam Fallang, Floodwood, Minnesota; Peggy Krostag, Blaine, Minnesota; Clifford Vieau, Superior, Wisconsin; Dennis Aubin, Duluth, Minnesota; Marie Leonard, Duluth, Minnesota; and her chosen sister and best friend, Diane Rupert, Raleigh, North Carolina.

Kathy was predeceased by her brothers, Terry Kaitala, Larry Kaitala and Jerome Fiebelkorn.

A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held Friday, June 25, 2021,5:00 PM-9:00 PM at Beneduce Vineyards, 1 Jeremiah Lane, Pittstown, NJ 08867.
