Kenneth G. Anker, age 86 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Independence Manor, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, February 20, 1926, son of the late Nicholas and Hilda Thompson Anker, he had resided in Raritan Township since 2003, having formerly lived in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY.
A United States Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Anker retired from the New York City Police Department as a Sergeant after thirty-four years of service.
He was a communicant of St. Magdalen Church, Flemington, NJ and was a longtime member of the American Legion and the Sheepshead Bay Fishing and Sporting Club, Brooklyn, NY.
His devoted wife of forty years, Ann McGrath Anker, died in 1994. He was also pre-deceased by a brother, Norman Anker and a sister, Marion Angley.
Surviving are his loving daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Jim Farrell of Raritan Township, NJ and Kristine and Roy Kaufmann of Wharton, NJ; his dear sister, Irene Egav of Spring Hill, FL; and his six cherished grandchildren, Laura, Matthew and James Farrell and Jennifer, Michael and Elizabeth Kaufmann.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, 3620 Tilde Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 1:00-3:00 and 6:00-9:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home.
