Kenneth James “Jim” Lane, age 75 years, of New Hope PA, died Friday, October 20, 2017 at Doylestown Hospital in Doylestown PA, surrounded by his family.
Born October 15, 1942 in Somerville NJ, Jim was the son of the late James V. Lane and Betty (Montague) Lane of Flemington NJ. Jim was raised in Readington Township and graduated from Hunterdon Central Regional High School in the Class of 1961. While in high school, he was an accomplished wrestler, placing 4th in the State in 1961, and was also voted ‘Best Dressed’ by his classmates. He later attended college in Missouri where he was a member of the cheerleading squad. Jim enjoyed the many musical sounds and dances of the 1950’s and 60’s, often grabbing a spirited dance to the song “Money, Money” with his wife, Carole.
Jim worked for industrial and retail businesses for many years in the Flemington area, holding positions in sales and marketing for NJ Bell Telephone, Burdette Oxygen, Sandler & Worth, Sears, Rug Mart, and Nolde’s Piano. In his later years, he found much joy working for The Pod Shop Flowers in New Hope, often bringing a special message with a verse of “Happy Birthday” to one of the intended recipients on their special day.
Jim loved all Philadelphia sports teams and was an avid golfer, playing many rounds as a former member of Beaver Brook Country Club. He also enjoyed a good game of poker with his family.
Predeceased by his father, James Lane in 1985 and his brother, Bruce Lane in 1988, Jim is survived by his wife of 31 years, Carole (LaPatta) Lane of New Hope PA, his mother, Betty Lane of Flemington, his daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Anthony Picone of Bangor PA, his son and special companion, Kenneth J.
