Kenneth S. DeMott, age 100 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died Saturday, July 20, 2019 at his home.
Born in Flemington, NJ, June 9, 1919, son of the late Ernest and Anna Sutphin DeMott, he was a lifelong Hunterdon County, NJ resident.
Kenneth was a direct descendent of Penelope Stout, one of the first women to sail from the Netherlands to America in 1647.
A Flemington High School graduate, Kenneth was a United States Army veteran serving during World War II. He served in the Pacific from 1941 to 1945 with the 165th Infantry Corp., as a mortarman. After his service he spent his early life farming the DeMott poultry farm. His later years he worked for Fabrical as an extruder operator in Branchburg, NJ.
Kenneth was a member of the YMCA, the Flemington Grange and the oldest member of the Flemington Presbyterian Church.
He is pre-deceased by his two brothers, Donald DeMott and Roland DeMott. Surviving are his wife of sixty-eight years, Kathryn Barber DeMott; two children, David DeMott of Washington, NJ and Carol Pearce of Oreland, PA; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two nieces and five nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 28, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery at Grandin, Pittstown, NJ. Calling hours will be held Sunday, July 28, 2019 from 1:00-2:00 PM in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions in Kenneth’s name may be made to Union Cemetery Association at Grandin, 12 Ward Street, Frenchtown, NJ 08825.
