Lawrence F. Volk, Sr., age 89 years, formerly of Cherryville, NJ, died on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, in Douglasville, GA.
Born in Cherryville, NJ, September 9, 1923, son of the late Marvin and Edna Stout Volk, he had resided in Cherryville, NJ for many years, then in Winston-Salem, NC for thirty years before moving to Dallas, Georgia in 2012.
A lifelong farmer, he was a former member of the Franklin Township Board of Education. An avid golfer, he also played baseball for several years in the Tri-County League with the Flemington and Quakertown teams.
His wife, Bonnie Volk, died in 2012.
Surviving are a son, Lawrence Volk, Jr., of Villa Rica, GA; three daughters, Laura Zimmerman of Cherryville, NJ, Helen Adams of Sanibel, FL and Victoria Aurelius of Sadieville, KY; a brother, John Volk of Norristown, NJ; five grandchildren, John Volk, Brian Volk-Zimmerman, Christopher Volk-Zimmerman, Shane Adams and John Todd Aurelius; and one great grandchild, River Volk.
A Memorial Service will be announced under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment was private in Cherryville Cemetery, Cherryville, NJ. Please visit www.holcombefisher.com for further information, or to send condolences.
