Leanne Schoberl, age 27 years, of Alexandria Township, NJ, died on Thursday, January 2, 2014 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ, surrounded by her loving family.
A "Valentine's Day Baby," she was born on February 14, 1986 in Morristown, NJ to John J. Schoberl III and Lisa Slockbower Schoberl, who both immediately realized that she was the epitome of what love is, and all those who have come to know her have echoed the same sentiment.
Born under three pounds, Doctor's initially told the family that if she somehow miraculously survived, she would not be able to really do anything, or have any sense of what was going on in her life. They quickly learned that Leanne was not a typical pre-mature infant. In her 27 years, she lived a full and rich life and did it with the approach of being able to accomplish anything that she wanted to, no matter what the obstacle was, and that nothing was going to stop her.
She participated with the ARC of Hunterdon County’s Meals on Wheels Program, always bringing a great big smile to accompany the meals that were being delivered. Additionally, she worked for the Center for Educational Advancement, Flemington, NJ and was also a part of a therapeutic equestrian program for which she won many blue ribbons.
A communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church, Pittstown, NJ, Leanne’s faith was one that could move mountains. Her faith was one of the back bone’s of her strength, a strength that she exuded and served as a role model for so many people.
Surviving, in addition to her loving parents, are her devoted brother, Lt. John J. Schoberl IV, USMC, who recently graduated from the United States Naval Academy and is currently stationed in Quantico, VA. Leanne was so proud of all her brother’s accomplishments, and was elated as she was the one who pinned on his original Lieutenant bars upon his commission. She is also survived by her cherished maternal grandfather, Arthur F. Slockbower of Alexandria Township, NJ and several caring and loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Barbara Coe Slockbower as well as her paternal grandparents, John J. Schoberl II and Catherine Schoberl.
